virginia has been holding eye contact for longer periods of time and it is really great. she has even started tracking objects when they move (mostly us). today she was gazing at greg. she would turn her head away and then look back at him over & over, like she was playing a game. it was really cute.

sally sent us this onesie with virginia's name on it. so cute!

(it's somewhat humiliating that my CPL "teen volume" shirt, which i sometimes sleep in, is visible. but clothing now ranks much lower on my list of priorities!)

one month old!

it is so hard to believe that virginia was born four weeks ago today. this has been such a happy and exhilarating time and we have experienced and learned so much.

in honor of virginia's one-month birthday, here is a video that greg put together containing footage of her throughout the four weeks (and even some from before that time). it turned out really well!

serious baby

it must be natural for parents to look for and recognize aspects of themselves in their children. and virginia reminds me so much of myself- both now as an adult and what i've heard i was like as a baby. she seems pensive and introspective during her awake periods, just looking around curiously as she takes it all in. of course, i find it quite cute & endearing.

our third week

we are finally becoming more mobile and it feels great to be out & about. the weather has been really temperate and we think about how different (difficult) it would be if we were in chicago right now taking virginia to her doctor's appointments on the red line, freezing under those ineffective CTA heat lamps!

after seeing abby & aaron's ergo baby carrier we thought it would be a great thing to have- and it is! yesterday greg said that it is the single best baby item we have. it is so comfortable and virginia LOVES it. she is so cozy, nestled against us and she falls asleep immediately once we start walking. we have taken tons of photos of her in it and i'm putting them in this post.

also, at the birth center, they announce all the new babies on a board, which we would see every time we went for prenatal visits. it was cool to see virginia's name on it and i was glad to be able to take a picture when we were there this week. (the following picture is of greg in the waiting room of the birth center.)
